The Sleeve Notes
The rules, in plain English

Terms of Use

These terms cover both the website at thesleevenotes.com and the Australian Live Music API. By using either, you agree to them.

The Sleeve Notes (“we”, “us”) publishes a vinyl reference site and a data API. These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of both. If you don’t agree with them, please don’t use the site or the API.

1. The website

The site is provided for general information. We work hard to keep it accurate, but pricing, availability, pressing details and “on vinyl” status change constantly and are not guaranteed. Always confirm the current price and condition with the retailer before you buy. Nothing here is professional, financial, or valuation advice.

2. Affiliate links

Some links are affiliate links, and we may earn a commission on qualifying purchases at no extra cost to you. This never changes our recommendations. Full detail is in our affiliate disclosure. Any purchase you make is a contract between you and the retailer (eBay, Amazon, or another seller), not with us; we are not a party to it and are not responsible for the goods, delivery, returns, or the seller’s conduct.

3. The Australian Live Music API

The API is distributed through RapidAPI and is subject to both these terms and RapidAPI’s own terms. When you use the API you agree that:

  • Access & limits. Access is via your RapidAPI key within the rate limits of your plan. Don’t attempt to bypass the RapidAPI proxy, share keys, or exceed your plan’s limits.
  • Acceptable use. Don’t use the API to build a substantially similar competing dataset or service, to bulk-scrape and re-host the data as your own database, or for anything unlawful.
  • Attribution. If you display data from the API, credit “Data via The Sleeve Notes” where practical. Underlying music metadata originates from MusicBrainz and is used under its licence (see below).
  • Availability. The API is provided on a best-effort basis. We may change, rate-limit, deprecate, or discontinue endpoints, fields, or the whole service at any time, and data may be incomplete or out of date.

4. Data sources & attribution

Album, artist and pressing metadata originates from MusicBrainz, whose core data is released under CC0 (public domain); cover images come from the Cover Art Archive. Live-music data is drawn from our own network. Our editorial writing — verdicts, guides, and site copy — is our original work and is not CC0.

5. Intellectual property

The Sleeve Notes name, design, and editorial content are ours (or licensed to us). You may quote or link to our pages with attribution. You may not copy substantial portions of our editorial content, or our design, without permission. Third-party names and trademarks (artists, labels, retailers) belong to their owners and are used descriptively.

6. No warranty

The site and the API are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, or uninterrupted availability. You use them at your own risk.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss, or for any loss arising from your reliance on the site or the API, from a purchase made through a link, or from any interruption or error in the service. Nothing in these terms excludes rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law or other laws that cannot lawfully be excluded.

8. Changes

We may update these terms from time to time; the current version always lives at this URL, with the date below. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of South Australia, Australia, and you submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of its courts.
